Growing a Revolution
La Mesa Verde



La Mesa Verde brings together volunteers from the entire community to plant raised-bed gardens in the yards of families struggling to meet their nutritional needs.

After volunteers plant the gardens, master gardeners continue to work with each family through the growing season to ensure a healthy harvest for years to come.

Beyond providing a sustainable source of food, La Mesa Verde builds community by providing the opportunity to work shoulder-to-shoulder with low-income families in this powerful endeavor, laying the foundation for a more abundant tomorrow.

Founded in 1964, Sacred Heart Community Service is dedicated to bringing our community together to address poverty in Silicon Valley. Through a comprehensive array of resources, services, and community involvement initiatives, SHCS is making a real impact in the lives of working poor families.

We are an HPRP stimulus grantee

Special financial assistance for homelessness prevention and rapid-rehousing is available for a limited time. Eligibility requirements include:

  • If you earn 50% of Area Median Income ($53,500 for a family of four) or less and are homeless

    OR

  • you will be homeless if you don’t receive some assistance
